Revolution Parkour --More

So I have recieved a bit more info on revolution Parkour in Beaverton. For one they(Adam Dunlap) never responded to my e-mail. I had simply asked for some info for our little group here in Track town. He never responded.
Secondly- Tyson Cecka has informed me that those cats have repeatedly refused to involve themselves in the local(NorthWest) PK scene. They hold no jams. Only charging for "outdoor training." They will not involve themselves with Oregon Pk. And will no donate no time for charities, or working with other groups.
I have gotten the impression that they fancy themselves a stuntman school, for elite Tracuers. Yet they don't even come out to jam... Lame- Imagine if Tim and I charged to meet up @ UofO? Yeah these don't sound like guys I want to affiliate EPK with.

Any thoughts?

Gym Jam Sucess!

The Gym Jam was amazingly successful. We all had a great time. I got to really be balls out for once and try things I never had the courage to try on pavement or even grass. It was one of the most intense training sessions (Physically and mentally) that I have ever experienced. We had great laughs and an all around amazing time. I want to thank the USGA for having us, and I hope we can make this a once a month trainning session. If any of the people who showed up want to comment with there experience there and what they loved, it would be awesome.

Revolution Parkour

A small gym in Beaverton,OR (p-town) is operating as a Parkour Gym. Teaching both adult and child classes. Further divided into both beginner and advanced. Indoor and outdoor. Pretty cool stuff.
The Beaver Valley Times Did a write up on parkour and the gym.It always interests me to see how others address the Parkour education process and the ways in which they choose to monetize it. I am by no means apposed to making money with pk, just the idea of charging for every interaction/jam seems pretty lame...

He offers one easy truth I appreciate deeply -In the end, Dunlap stresses the simple joys of the sport he loves and the independence of its movement. He also stresses that watching the elite athletes shouldn’t scare people off. Most people will never leap from such great heights.
“Just because you train,” he says, “doesn’t mean you can jump off a building.”

Revolution Parkour
Classes, at ADAPT Training 9923 S.W. Arctic Drive, are $15 for drop-in sessions or a $40 monthly fee.

As gyms go, this is low cost. As we all move forward; it might be an interesting idea to go get some training form other people in our region. Any thought s on that idea?

David Belle, Parkour: TRS, Barclaycard Highlights.

I'll admit, I'm a little late getting to the new David Belle interview. I was so busy in July that I didn't have time to watch it. But I wanted to at least mention it on the blog, so those of you just coming here can watch it and other videos.

So Here it is, for your viewing Pleasure,

"David Belle - I Leap from Rooftop to Rooftop"

{Also, someone posted a Transcribed version of it Here}

The Next Video I wanted to bring up (yes, a little behind on this one as well) is Parkour: The Real Story.

This Video is about 30 minuets long, but totally worth it. Its a video just released form Russia. If you just watch it and take away one awesome thing, its when one of the Traceurs is running through nature. It really shows that you don't need bid urban landscapes to practice or use parkour.

Parkour: The Real Story

Next is the Barclaycard Freerunning World Championships Highlight Video.

While I don't personally see Parkour as a competitive sport, some people do. And while I don't agree with these guys having it as a competition, I can still admire the physical side of it. Its quite impressive actually. So With out any further a due,

So Bring Ten Bucks, and your A game and lets get some good practice in on the mats. It will be really nice to be able to try flips or vaults that I have been to intimidated to attempt yet. There should also be gymnastics instructors who will be there to help us with any questions. So, Don't pass up this golden opportunity.

Fall Term Jam Times

So- at the least the Friday Jam will be changing soon. I have classes starting for fall term and will be busy @ the current time. It's looking like 12pm on Saturdays will be the new time for me.
The question is- What time would work for everyone else?
Perhaps- Tuesdays or Thursdays around 4pm?

Sound off and lets make sure we don't lose all the gains we made this summer! Fall training will be wonderful in less heat :)
Sound off and let me know what works for you!

Eugene Parkours Flicker?

Yes, Today I woke up and thought "Man, we have photos that need to be up"

So I started a Eugene Parkour Flickr account. It can be located at Eugene Parkour

Right now there arnt that many photos, but I'm hoping we can make packing a camrea with us a regular thing for the meet ups. If you have any photos of you doing parkour outside the meet up and want them placed here just drop me a line at EPKTim@Gmail.com and I'll get them up there for you.

Also, on two of our last runs we were so lucky as to run into a photographer named Wolfram Burner who kindly took some photos of us doing our stuff. So quite a few of those pics are from him. If any of you have a chance I highly suggest checking out his photos at His Flickr Page.

Till Later,
- Tim

Running

I have found that my ability to run is sharply diminished. Due almost entirely to no longer running in the mornings. Hell- my mile time today was 9:40!! A sad desperate shame...
My point my fellow Tracuers; How many of you actively run? How many of us run a 8 minute mile? Seriously. Running is such an integral part of our art. Aside from our normal PK fun- is anyone interested in some running/conditioning?
Please sound off with your mile times, if you run. If you'd like to train/run with me let me know = longhardt at gmail.com

EPK going smooth, and Tim Bosting his ego.

So far so good, EPK is really making a name for its self as Eugene's Parkour group. WE are making good connections and everyone is having an amazing time.

Again meet ups are listed on this blog, if you have any questions you can hit my email up at EPKTim@Gmail.com

Now, because I'm so happy about it. A picture of me landing a Kong to a precision at the U of O campus on Fridays meet up.
